Soundtrack wasn't released

damn the man, save the empire-mark, empire records

reply

of course it was! you can buy it on a CD and i have the record, found it in a local goodwill.
if all fails- just download the music online, but make sure you get the version you want- there are different ones, the movie ones and more clear -studio- ones.

reply

It was one of the most boring films I have ever seen.

I just changed my signature.

Then what are you doing here? Trying to piss people off? Yeah, I bet you'll get a lot of uproar over Funny Girl...

Oh and by the way, I had the movie soundtrack on cassette and I just recently saw it on CD for cheap so I picked it up so it turned out to be the broadway version... But I'm sure you can find it somewhere.

reply

Yes, you can purchase both the Broadway version and / or the film-score version of Funny Girl on CD at most large-chain music stores....but wait, there's more....There is also a double disc bootleg CD version of the entire Broadway musical (not just the music numbers, but with all of the dialog). I know because I own a copy. The sound quailty isn't very good, but it's fascinating to listen to. In the Broadway play, Streisand's Fanny Brice character is much more kooky and talks and sounds a lot like the real Brice, whereas in the film version, Streisand is less kooky, much more refined and sophisticated and more like Brabra and less like Brice. If you're interested in finding this, go to ebay on a regular basis and it will show up. There's also a bootleg CD of a young Streisand performing a live concert at the Hungry I in San Francisco (recorded back in the early 60's) that is the best (by far) recording of Barbra singing live. The sound quality is wonderful and, again, this shows up from time to time on ebay.

In the movie Funny Girl, not how it happened in real life of course, I thought that if Fanny really wanted to be with Nick, she would have said "I will give up the theater for you" instead of letting him leaving and not going after him. I mean, she already told Ziegfeld she would, so why didn't she follow up on it? Even if Nick didn't say it specifically, you know he still wanted to be with her but her success was in the way of him being a "real man."

reply

actually, the broadway cast recording is one of the best ever done...but you are right, she is a bit more kooky in that soundtrack vs the movie

reply

Pot did you try barns and noble.com

I have both the funny girl and lady soundtracks

reply

yeah i think Funny Girl is very sad, and truly one of the great films,a classic!
The part where Nicky is about to go to prison is really sad, barbra gives a heartwarming performance!!!
And by the way, they sell the soundtrack to "funny girl" in HMV at the moment with all the songs...
Did you like " the mirror has two faces" and "the prince of tides" as well, they're also two of my favourite films

reply

barbra is wonderful it's so sad

reply

I TOTALLY agree about this movie being sad....however I must disagree with you about What's Up Doc?, I thought that movie was really good....anyway, I think Barbra is great in any movie!!!!!

Lorelai:The government will close that day.Barbra Streisand will give her final concert... again.

reply

I'm always crying by the end of this movie too, but Fanny Brice went on living and making people laugh which makes her the true "funny girl".

reply

The story of Fanny and Nick's relationship does turn rather sad and I can't get through "My Man" without crying either.

Its melodramatic. No ways its a comedy musical.

Its that man again!!

reply

Comparing this to Whats up Doc is apples and oranges... and What's up Doc is one of my favorite comedies, the dynamic of her and Ryan, plus the dialog throughout the film is magnificently silly and creative... it's not perfect, but it's stupid, in a good way not a bad way.
