Boatman?

I saw "The Fixer" at the cinema when it was released in 1968. I never saw it on television.

I was puzzled to see a "Boatman" listed in the movie credits. I cannot remember the scene where the Fixer got aboard a boat in order to be ferried across a river. Was this scene cut from the movie release? I read the novel several times and the passage with the fixer and the boatman was quite important. Can anyone remember if the Boatman appeared in the movie?

Thanks

The scene was filmed, but was cut from the final movie. John Frankenheimer talks about this in Charles Champlin's book. The credits were probably done before the film was finished, as sometimes happens, meaning people are credited for scenes that don't make it in the movie,

Thank you so much Luckard. That explains why the scene I remember from the novel didn't make it to the finished movie. It's the old story of film going to the cutting room floor instead of the projector. My memory of the film is not as bad as I thought it was! I think I will look for the book by Champlin. Again, thanks for the information.
