Henrietta

Henrietta seems like such a great wife..except when she makes Jimmy Stewart feel guilty about not going to Oregon. I realize she was out of her head with pain..but the timing could not have been worse just after hearing the speech of Mr. Whittier..I can see why Jimmy stopped..he saw land, he was freshly married, wanted a family, and did the best he could for them..Any thoughts??

That was a turning point from him. He was taking the easy road. Taking land no one else wanted, living in a town with people who were much like him. They all were running away from the real world. They are just living. Not really anything more. He decided he had to take control of his life and do what was right, not what is easy. He could not just let these guys get away with all they did in the town. He had to prove to himself that he was capable of making the hard decisions - not running away from them.
