Wait, wait, wait...WHAT WERE THEY SMOKING?????

So I am flipping through HBO and I'm a sucker for Leprechauns (I'll watch anything with them in it LOLZ) and I see this movie. SO, the Leprechaun sucks and the movie is boring...

Then all of the sudden, Leprechaun dude pulls out a purple rooster, I am midly interested, but have seen strange roosters before. Plus Leprechauns aint blond, so I'm not impressed. I start to think of changing the channel, but nothing is on except for "Stick It", some horribly wrong titled movie about teen gymnasts (no Starman, why you sell out? Mr. Bridges..., why?) Leprechauns it is...

So I keep it on the channel. I must have missed some key scenes because all of the sudden one of the main characters is smoking some kind of "herb", and is taking all these puffs off of this joint. Then he's like "whao, it's smokeless dudeZ" and laughs as he notices there are no clouds of smoke. WTF kind of weed is that?

Lol it's rated G even!!!??!??!?!??!?!?!!??!?!

My favorite quote "Tell the psychedelic rooster to stop bogarting the blunt".

Great movie

This is stupidity on your part! You don't watch the complete movie then decide they're on drugs! DUMB!

From Wikisynopsis:

Woody's good friend and business partner Howard, an African American botanist determined to grow mentholated tobacco...

They can "mentholate" the tobacco, but, in one try, it doesn't even burn! So, he continues the experiment, achieving a "lightable" tobacco~with no smoke. Again, the experiment continues until...

EDIT: Continued dumbness:

Leprechauns aint blond...
WHAT?! As far as I know, in artwork, films and on TV, they do not have a certain hair color.

Also: Og created the rooster just as he later did apples and a cheese sandwich. Duh! (That's a modernism I don't care for, but it's worth saying in response to what you wrote.)

You also do not lack stupidity. Tobaco is also drugs so he was right to assume they were on drugs.

You know good and well he was insinuating that it was marijuana! In no way did he think of tobacco! To believe it was "grass" is ridiculous!

Id say they probably actually used grass in filming, but then it was 68 and smoking on the screen was probably a normal thing still. yes he was insinuating marijuana, to the point of actually naming it, but the response was not much wiser.

I don't believe they would do that! I'm so sick of this "It was the Sixties!" because it was not like that, no more than the Roaring 20s was all like Chicago.

"If you remembered the Sixties, you weren't there." BALONEY!

What i meant was that back then there was less regulation of what can be actually filmed (for example now its illegal to film people actually drinking alcohol in movies and they drink colored water instead) and thus it could be the real thing was used. I never meant the whole sixties smokers thing. Merely a less strict filming regulation back then.

For smokeless tobacco, all they had to do is use nothing to make sure there was no smoke. Nowadays, they use an herb in olace of tobacco, as when the non-smoking actor in "The X-Files" had to smoke all of the time. So, they likely faked it in a similar way in "Finian's Rainbow". The effects guys are great at figuring everything out in relative simple terms.

No way could they use the real thing, not with the chance of arrests and ruined reputations.

Whoever made this movie was smoking some good stuff!

It was a stage production first.
