Questions please

1. When Monsignor and priest first go up to Castle Dracula, the Msgr comes down first and asks if the priest is back yet. Innkeeper says Yes, which is a lie because the priest is still up top with Dracula. Why did the innkeeper lie?

2. Drac commaned Zina to bring Maria to him. Zina complies. Drac is alone with Maria, and gets frightened off when Paul calls out her name. Why did Drac give up the chase...why not just kill Paul and take his bride? And why did Drac kill Zina? You have failed me! Uh, no. She did exactly as ordered
