Richleau is a bit of a pain-in-the-neck

It is not Christopher Lee's fault that there was nothing in Al Capone's Vault LOL not really but I cannot stand that know-all Richleau. Richleau knows everything about everything and is always right.

That's not Rex! That's not Peggy! Don't take your eyes off Tanith! Don't leave the circle! That's the goat of Mendes! This mercury will protect you!! I can draw perfect circles freehand! Death came, he would not leave empty-handed! I have hypnotized him! Don't take this off! Stay Close to me! Take me instead! Don't blah blah blah.... Give it a rest Duc!

There should have been more Mocata and less Duc.

Definitely true. He had all the answers, although in a film like this, it's always good for the viewer to have someone to clue is in on what's going on. But he did make one giant mistake. Why did he allow the little girl to sleep in her bed instead of coming into the protective circle with her parents? I'm sure the parents would object to unnecessarily scaring her, etc... etc... but as evidenced in the rest of the film, Richleau does not take no for an answer (because, as you say, he is ALWAYS right). Richleau knew it all and was so careful about every detail. It doesn't make sense he'd let the little girl be by herself unprotected.

Did he have all the answers? His only solution ever seemed to be "You get some sleep, and you sit with him/her!" which always ended up backfiring, lol.

Still a fun horror movie though. :)

"Acting -- the best special effect there is." (Stuart Gordon on Re-animator commentary)

Totally agree. The best part was where Rex appeared carrying Tanith's body and said "Tanith's dead!" and Richleau said "I know." Really? No shock, no horror, no empathy?

Three years on and this is still my favorite IMDB post!
