Rochefort or Cherbourg?
Just saw this the other night for the first time at local cinema, and came here expecting to find someone would have posted this, but seems not, so here goes: This, or "Umbrellas" (preferred/better film etc)?

Prefer Rochefort myself. Used to have the original album. Really like Gene Kelly's performance. Cherbourg i've seen in the cinema' has a richer color pallette, although Rochefort's pastel is equally eye candy and compliments the location, time period.
shareAlthough the concept of singing every line is more original, I think I like the classic formula better.
Also, Cherbourg is kind of depressing, so I think I'd rather watch Rochefort more times.
Both are 8/10 for me.
Cherbourg paved the path for Rochefort, but both are 10/10 for me. Cherbourg impressed me more narratively than Rochefort did while watching it, but Rochefort might actually be more rewatchable because it's so upbeat and has more characters and dancing.
shareRochefort, which I just watched and loved yesterday. I saw Cherbourg some years ago and was fairly indifferent to it, but the later movie has made me keen to give it another go.
