was Lieutenant Surrier raped?

Was the young soldier (Lieutenant Surrier) gang raped by the Simba rebels? There is a scene where he is being taunted by the Simba commander and surrounded by other Simba soldiers. They all grab him and he is thrown face-down over a table while he is pleading "Please,,,,NO!" and they appear to be pulling his pants down. Then a little later, after Taylor and Brown enter the town, I seem to remember a very brief flash where Surrier is frantically trying to pull up his pants or something. And he looks rather mussed-up and sweaty.

I thought that too look at all the evidence that he was. He looked quity poofy and effeminate, the way the leader said "He knows you, you are familiar to many people around here2, He slapped his bum then they bent him over a table!:|

That's what I thought too oddly enough. At first I didn't think that could be, because for a movie made in 1968 it would be something unseen. But I think you're right.

well...IF he violently and repeatedly kicks the others private parts.

Just read the book. In the book he is a poofter andhe fancies the Henlien character(known as hendry in the book) when he gets captured on the train the darkies dont rape him but general moses does kick his private parts savagely. I recommend the book. It is quite different from the film. I'm actually struggle to find which is better. They both have greater qualities than each other.

Even more violent, is a shot of a lighted torch being thrust into someone's face. You only see about 2 seconds' worth.

Incredible as it may seem for a movie from 1968, I would say Yes--he definitely was raped.

They say that there's an uncut version of this film floating around out there somewhere, that was much more explicit about this mysterious scene.

..in which he looks up at Rod Taylor who has seen the gang rape. To put him out of his misery RT drops a grenade down into the Simbas surrounding the poor fellow. Saw this version many years ago on British TV late one night. Possibly BBC1.

Yes, he was definitely gang raped. There is even a still around in which you see that they prepare him for "action".

By the way, I remember a British movie about Lawrence of Arabia in which was clearly shown that Lawrence was gang raped as a kind of punishment. The David Lean movie, though, left this out.
