a gem from Jack Cardiff

This really is a forgotten gem (pun gleefully intended) from the superb cinematographer, Jack Cardiff, taking a turn at the Directors helm.
And a masterful job too; he captured excellent performances from everyone in the cast, to say nothing of the stunning cinematography...what a gorgeous film, albeit bloody as hell. But that too was in keeping with the film, and never felt gratuitous. Overall, a brilliant gem, underrated and overlooked by many.
If you've a chance, please see this film.

(Lately, FXM Retro has been showing it in their late night programming.)
