Cowboys Vs. Indians!

I'm compiling a list of cowboys-versus-Indians films. Have always loved CUSTER OF THE WEST. RIDE TO GLORY is another all-time fave. What's some of your favorites? Preferably lesser known films.

Land Raiders (1969).

With Telly Savalas and George Maharis. A very underrated film in my mind. Watched it for the first time when I was 8 or 9 years old, and it´s been one of my favorite westerns ever since.

I did a lot of research when hoping to write a book called How the West Wasn't Won about the Indian wars in the movies.

So I can say that there are hundreds of movies involving Indian Wars in the West as major or minor plot elements.

Tens of great movies, hundreds of good movies, and hundreds of bad movies.

I have seen a variety review quoted which stated that Indian movies were getting very overused. The review was from 1909.

This website has a list of 68 "good" movies about Indians, most involving some military strife: http://www.jacknilan.com/nativeamerican/

this one has some more, with fewer "cowboys and Iindians" examples: westernshttp://ladyhawkesite.tripod.com/nativemovies.htm

Yeah, I saw "Land Raiders" a couple of years ago and was surprised at how good it was for such an obscure Western. It's definitely underrated.

'1000 Rifles' and 'Solider Blue' are two you might like. The twist is that the "Indians" are the good guys. A more conventional one is 'Arrowhead' from 1953. 'Son Of The Morning Star' is an interesting TV-movie about Custer and 'Bend Of The River' has some CVsI elements as well (even thought it's the primary focus).
