I recognize one of the exterior scenes as being filmed in Redondo Beach California. The buildings used are the old TRW Space Park facility. The company was later acquired by Northrop Grumman.
Someone included this and the Mojave Desert under "Trivia" but not under "Filming Locations." You ought to add it!

I live just inland of Cocoa Beach Florida and work at Cape Canaveral AFS. It's always funny to see old movies that use stock film footage of the Cape.
I wondered if the scenes of the hotel and TIKKI bar that take place just before the launch were filmed here in Florida or California. The locations did have the look of 1960's Cocoa Beach but I did not recognize any specific locations.
I assume that COUNTDOWN being somewhat of a low budget movie, moving the film shoot down here would have been expensive.
Guess she didn't like the cornbread either.
Oops, sorry 'bout my previous post. I just saw the filming locations section!!! This was indeed partially filmed here. I have to go back now and watch this again to look for locations.
There is a restaurant/bar here that is called "Barnard's Surf". It was a popular hangout with the astronauts during the 60's. The bar still has a lot of pictures on the walls of astronauts from the Mercury thru Apollo and including all the shuttle crews.
Guess she didn't like the cornbread either.
