Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Vs Willy Wonker and the Chocolate Factory

Which film do you prefer, Chitty Chitty or Willy Wonker and I mean the 1971 version with Gene Wilder not The dreadful Depp version.
I think both films are great with great songs and both feel very epic.
I can't decide!
Both films were faves growing up.

I also liked Scrooge (1970)

There's are good post about Grandpa Joe vs Grandpa Potts on the the Willy Wonka board :-)

It wasnt me, it was the other three. Hang them!

Both films were a treat to see when they came around. I really couldn't choose one over the other, to be honest.

One was a bit more of a morality tale and test of character for children, where the other was a romance and a kind of "happiness must be earned" story by way of Potts and Truly.

I love both movies.

Scrooge from 1970 was an okay film. It's actually my preferred version of Dickens' tale.

Both are okay, though neither are great films.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory not a great movie? whattttttttt

I love Chitty Chitty but I understand some people not digging the vibe. Willy Wonka on the other hand has an absolutely sublime performance from Gene Wilder, a great cast, and pretty amazing sets and effects for its time

it also has great pacing and music

If i go crazy will you still call me Superman?

For some reason, these 2 films are always connected in my mind. There are great songs and plots in both, but if I could only pick one to watch for the rest of time, it'd have to be Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder's performance is second to none and I find the whole thing that bit more magical than CCBB.

Charlie has only a few slow scenes while Chitty has a number of them.
