What a terrible film.

Not only because it deviated from the book so much, it was just an awful movie. Even the most powerful moment of the book was the end, and they completely scrapped it in the film. And they for some reason made Charlie into an attempted rapist who then goes on a crazy hippie trip. Terrible, terrible film...

You gave up everything you had to find me. You found me broken.

Yes...I am about a little over halfway through it now, but that scene left me horrified. The book Charlie, even at his lowest points, had a kind heart and would NEVER have forced himself on Alice like that. In the book, he was nervous just to touch her shoulder. You are right, it was attempted rape. And then she comes back to him? He gives no apology, no explanation.

Even before that scene I was pretty disappointed with this movie version. But, this is one of my absolute favorite books.
