Is Anyone Reminded Of....

I know that this came first, but i'm always reminded of forrest gump when i see this movie. anyone else think so?

reply

yeah! i do. we watched this movie in my class today and we all agreed that it reminded us of forest gump

reply

Of course it does, both movies have a retarded adult character going through challenges: getting a girl, being teased and bullied, then going through a horrible lose (forest looses Jenny, Charly looses Himself). It reminds me of Rain Man also.

'Charachters' mate? I guess you learned nothing from the story.

reply

I've only ever seen him in Charly, but I was reminded of an older Mel Gibson.

reply

how could he remind you of mel Gibson? he wasn't wearing a swastika.

be wary of strong drink. it can make you shoot at tax collectors...and miss.

reply

Gibson played a mentally challenged character in Tim.

yea its just a blog and im sure you've made a typo before and knowing how to spell is not as important as knowing what the words mean so surley there is no reason to get so hostle

talking to catman

First, this is a message board and not a self-centered personal web log.

Second, the word is spelled “s not “surely” and not “surely.” The former means “certainly,”
the latter means the kind of an asshole that you are.

Words matter. You, not so much. Your willful sloth and ignorance cause me to ask
you never to reproduce yourself.

reply

Those should be "a horrible loss", and "loses" ~ instead of "a horrible lose" and both case of "looses".

Eight divided by one-half equals four squared!

reply

"Forrest Gump..reminds me of RAIN MAN too"!

Me,too.Agreed.

reply

"Awakenings" reminds me more of "Charly" than "Forrest Gump". At the end of the first two movies the main characters return to their original states. In the latter movie Forrest grows and becomes an adult. All three movies are wonderful in their own right.

reply

Awakenings, most definately!!

reply

Yes, I think it portrayed the heart of Charly. He has feelings all the time whether or not he is a genius or mildly retarded. I liked the scene where he helped the bus boy pick up the shattered glasses as the other people stood around and laughed at the bus boys' expense.

reply

i was thinking of "i am sam" when i watched this, i'm pretty sure sean penn took some inspiration from the first half of this movie.

thug means never having to say you're sorry.

reply

not forrest gump but The Nutty Professor if you can believe it(the Jerry Lewis version.) He goes from being completely awkward to Mr. Botany 500. Somehow they associate brains with sophistication and style. I half expected him to wind up in a smoking jacket and a fez if he didn't start getting dumb.

the premise of an experiment of transforming a retarded man into a genius reminds me more of the film lawnmower man

reply

LOL. Rain Man. Forrest Gump. and they also won Oscarsa.

I'd love for these oldies to have won Oscars as flick chaarcters
Mortimer Snerd
Crazy Guggenheim
