Scene deleted from DVD

I watched this movie on Wonderful World of Disney as a kid. In that version it showed why Jess Bradley named the cougar Charlie. Charlie kept messing with his papers on his desk and Jess picked him up and said, "OK, I guess I can't keep saying "Hey you", so I'll call you Good Time Charlie."

But in the DVD version, it simply said that Jess named him Good Time Charlie without showing that scene. Does anyone know why this scene was omitted from the DVD version?

The thing is, I watched the movie on VHS as well and the scene wasn't there either, only on the Wonderful World of Disney showing. I wonder why the DVD release doesn't have the scene.

What year?

Yeah! I read from some reviewers that 15min were deleted from the original.
According to one person, the deleted scenes were essential to the story. Is there a print out there that has the full 90min (USA encore print)?
I was thinking about buying the DVD for my son. He enjoys movies like these. I grew up in that era (7yrs old)and thought this would be a good addition to our family library.
My parents had little money or time for the movies, so I missed out on a lot these fun classical films.

My best guess would be that, in 1967 when "Charlie" was double-billed with "The Jungle Book", they didn't want too long an overall show (so the thte theaters could sell more tickets). When it was shown on "The Wonderful World of Disney", it was shown with additional footage to "pad out" the film to show in a 2-hour time slot. I don't have any proof for this theory but, being somewhat familiar with the film industry, this is the most logical explanation.

I can tell you that the original white clamshell walt disney home video vhs copy says 74 minutes on the cover but actually runs a full 90 minutes. I would assume the beta version is the same. Catalog number on spine 334V.
