Disappointing Cut for DVD

After having enjoyed the VHS tape of Charge of the Light Brigade, I was amazed that the BFI had released the DVD with seven minutes cut out. Most notable amongst missing scenes were Peter Bowles playing the piano on a farm wagon at the early wedding scene, and the congregation singing Greenlands Icy Mountains prior to the flogging of Norman Rossington. It took me a long while for anyone at the BFI to talk to me, but when they did the cuts were news to them. Apparently they don't keep the master, and after they'd sent it back after the VHS recording they asked for it back for the DVD, assuming that it was the same cut. So c'mon BFI, we trust you to get a fully restored version out there.
