Visually unappealing characters

There were just too many stiff upper lips and the homeliest bunch of women ever cast in a movie along with a foppish gentleman who sports a thousand-yard-stare along with a stiff upper lip. The hairstyles of the women of that era, if accurate, were too distracting to me, just awful, I don't know how else to descrive hem. Trevor Howard's character, perhaps all of them really, tried to be the stiffest uppermost lip in the history of the British Military. And every so often some bizarre animation would just pop up on the screen with at times an illegible font, it just seemed straight out of Monty Python. The animation at the beginning showed a globe with a bear (a symbol for Russia) but I don't recall what other creatures were depicted for the UK (a lion?) and France but again, it was awful. Showing a Bear fighting a Lion added nothing in the way of explanation, and after a ballroom scene the animation switched to an animated ballroom dance scene, again quite like Monty Python, but after about five of these animations I couldn't wait for the movie to end. All through the movie there was an annoying bugler repeating the same bugle-sounds, it got to be annoying.
The highlight of course was supposed to be the big battle scene, I think a little bit more of a description should have been given to explain what transpired, and the dialogue at the end consisted of three buffoonish, stiff upper lipped military officers all declaring, "Not me, wasn't me, I didn't do it, no way Jose". OK, we get it, nobody took the blame.
I gave the movie a 6 rating but you'll have to watch it for yourself to see why I found everything about the characters to be so visually unappealing from the women's hairstyles to the overly-giant mutton chops and sideburns and the constant yelling of the way too militaristic officers.
