The runway scenes at San Francisco International

The foot chase between Bullitt and dah bad guy amongst the airplanes taking off at SFO was really great. The scenes were shot at the departure end of runway 1R, with PanAm Boeing 720s starting their takeoff runs. Very cool stagecraft (with probably intense FAA cooperation .)

If you look fast, while Bullitt runs under the aircraft at takeoff power, you can see a bright yellow sign for just a second way in the background, off airport. That's the sign for the Thunderbird Hotel...where Bullett found Mrs. Reneck's body that previous afternoon.

The Thunderbird Hotel in San Mateo is still there although it's gone over many makeovers since then. It's now the Aloft Hotel.

And notice that being 1968 there was zero security. It was no problem then to walk onto a plane with a gun.

The runway scene at the airport from Fast and Furious 6 was so much better
