As a small child, I saw this on TV under the title "Island of Living Horror". I distinctly remember seeing footage of native children playing among oversized plants. One of them stepped into a plant that closed up around him like a venus flytrap, although I don't think it was supposed to be eating him, I think it just snapped up and covered him and they were playing hide & seek.

The DVD release of this film under the correct title, "Brides of Blood", doesn't have anything like this in it. Am I remembering some other film?

THAT sounds like the Scene from "Voodoo Island" (1957) starring Boris Karloff + Elisha Cook Jr. (among-Others) ... there might be a Few Clips from It , on-YouTube.
