Why no DVD??

It's a crime that this flic (among others) isn't available on DVD...Just the cast alone merits some attention ... oh yes, it does exist: In Japanese!!

You can get the UK DVD. It's only 104 minutes & apparently transfer isn't that good, also don't know whether it's region-coded.

I've got the UK DVD. It looks fine to me. I'm in the US and the DVD IS region coded, so you will need a region-free dvd player (the best purchase any movie fan could make, really).

The cover claims it's anamorphic widescreen but it still appears letterboxed on my plasma screen. Colors are rich and it does NOT look like a bootleg. Film print was not the best shape, though; occasional lines through the film, and "cigarette burns" at the top right of the screen every once in a while. Picture is slightly fuzzy in the long shots.

Otherwise it looks fine...and it's not like you have any other choice (as of now) for seeing this movie on DVD.

There is also a German DVD called BRANDUNG which is anamorphic widescreen and from what I read here about the UK version this one is also in slightly better shape. And yes, it does have the english track and optional german subtitles. ;)

With Taylors passing I hope Universl finally releases this classic to DVD.

I think the lack of an American DVD has caused this film to not be rediscovered. I have watched it 3x recently and love it more and more everytime.

From your lips to the DVD gods' ears. I wanna see this movie! Everything Burton-Taylor must be treasured!

Absolutely they were Hollywood royalty

There has never been a dvd? It was released on VHS and shown on tv, didn't make people rediscover it.
