the ending

I really enjoyed this film and thought it was a lot better than some of the rubbish you get these days. The ending was a bit airy fairy. I like the fact you can think of what happens next in a film without having the end set in stone.
My question is though what do others think happens at the end. do you think kinita goes with leon or stays in the village?

This post is a couple months old, so if you're still checking the board, here's my answer.

I always thought Kinita follows Leon when he leaves the village. I love those last couple minutes from the church where he must escape to the meeting in the trees between Kinita and Leon. Great use of that Morricone score as he rides away.

As to what happens with Leon and Kinita at the end of the film, wll, as Leon says, "I think only God knows."

"I've seen blood all my life. Blood is blood. But there's always a Teclo; who thinks there is a difference."

I've always enjoyed films that don't wrap up the ending in a neat little package. I enjoyed this film quite a bit, Quinn was his brilliant self again.

He rides off and she rides after him...I think that answers your question. She went with him.

Actually, she had had it with small towns, but she needed money to move to a big city. And Leon Alastray was worth a lot of money, reward money. To keep a happy ending, they cut the last scene where she is receiving a sackful of gold pesos as Alastray watches from behind the jail bars. A girl has got to look out for herself. And Alastray was a very unreliable sort, unable to provide the security that those gold coins represent.

gerrythree, very funny:)
I think they both eventually will return to the village, but just for a visit. I really liked this film
I expected some showdown between Leon and Teclo, some redemption of Teclo (I always tought, that Teclo will at the end see the error of his ways and help the villagers

She needed new pastures herself.

The ending is kind of cool with the battle followed by the flood. But it's also kind of funny, because if you look at some of those extras being Indians they don't appear sure of what they are supposed to be actually doing in the water: i.e. swimming, dying, panicking, laughing, etc. Take your pick.🐭
