In memory of Fr. Faherty SJ.



It is my sad duty to inform you that Fr. Willaim B. Faherty SJ has passed away.
He died at the age of 97 in St. Louis Mo. Aug 22, 2011.
His funeral will be Aug. 24th
Visitation: 4pm-7pm At the St. Francis Xavier Church ( AKA the Collage Church)
3604 Lindell Blvd. St.Louis Mo 63108.

Mass Aug 24 at 7:30 Pm (same place)


I have known Fr. Faherty for 6 years. Please don't ask me any personal questions about thim. I work for the St. Louis Jesuits. I can't give you guys anymore info because I might loose my job.


Please pray for him. Please notify the Academy about his death. I would like to see him rembered and honored at this years Oscars. This movie was based on his novel after all.

Just saw that movie
Don't know how I missed it all these years
Rather late but nevertheless sorry for your loss which seems to be a loss for many people without realizing it

The original novel by Faherty had the hero a former soldier who became a Jesuit Friar, as opposed to the film's depiction of the hero as an army deserter and atheist bandit. I'd never realised until recently that Faherty was a Jesuit priest. You learn something every day.🐭

At least the bandit was greatly influenced by the priest and experienced a conversion
