to me that was not a happy ending

i do not believe he should have taken christine back but it seems his judgement was clouded by his love for women.

i guess ill see what happens when i watch the next installment of this series

I don't think it's a happy ending, either, but maybe for a different reason. Neither of them I think truly love each other; they both lie and just a night before Antoine was in bed with the shoe salesman's wife. Their entire relationship, along with the others in the film, are founded on infidelity, lies, and a lackadaisical disrespect for true love. This is why, when the man who has been watching Christine for the whole movie, pledges his undying love for her, that I feel like he's the only genuine person in the movie. Despite the serious reservations that I would have about someone who stalked a stranger like that, I think his lines were a commentary on the problems that society has with love and relationships.

He minds me of "The Heartbreak Kid" which was remade for some reason. A man becomes infatuated with another woman on his honeymoon. He pursues her, wears her down, gets a divorce and remarries only to find himself juast as unhappy at his second wedding.

Those are good observations regarding the fact that the stalker character was the only genuine person in the film. I think that explains why Christine and Antoine agree that he must be crazy to act with such straight forward honesty.

By "his love for women", you mean his "love for sex with women", right? That's normal for most straight men, I'd presume.

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
