Censored scenes?

I noticed there is a cut version and the Brazilian name of that version is the same as what Blockbuster online has but the times don't add up (there's more time on my rental then listed anywhere else). **SPOILERS** But I did notice a couple of grey shots of "nothing" that seemed out of place after the story involving the gang who killed the girl with the large walking stick. **END SPOILERS**

anyone know if that was censored material (such as shots of the girl after the fact?) or if it was Marins just going arty or perhaps crappy filmstock problems?

I saw this last night at the cinefamily in los angeles and Hadrian, the mc said marins spliced in black strips (looked more gray on this print) where the censored scenes were cut. I guess that way the rhythm of the scene is intact.

He said the film was shipped to the theater from brazil in a 50 lb rice bag without cores. whatta shame. but the print wasn't so bad.
