Great entertainment for asterix fans even after all this time

Although I suspect it helps if you are familiar with the original source material before viewing it I think this animated feature still holds up rather well even after all these decades. As well as being more faithful to the book than the new 'Mission Cleopatra" live-action film it also, just in general, comes off as more entertaining.

I saw this flic like tons and tons in a row and I have to say, out of all (non)animated Asterix & Obelix stories, this one by far pwns em all. So I might be biased when I say this but I totally agree with you.

if you are reading this signature, it means that i had to have a bitch-session.

me too saw this alote, i picked it out recently and realised i remembered like everything about it, how about that thing in the begining when the cartoon characters are describing why the lip movement won't match the sound, and it continued like that pretty extreme throughout the movie. but i think i was mostly hooked on the "twelve tasks of asterix".

playing a cardboard game,
with one of my old friends,
but i slipped out of the room,
out of the dream, and to another world i went to,
as you stayed there back,
just as trouble was coming at,
would somebody help me get my companion out of the dream,
he's trapped inside and out here is me,
my old friend and i, didn't we know the rules,
to the dream cardboard game of dulls,
i'm out here, and now there's nothing i can do,
buddy, just hang on tight,
i'll fall into a deep sleep tonight,
and try to chose the dreamland road right.

I love this movie as well, but I find 'Mission Cleopatra' just as entertaining. Sure, it is less faithful to the comic, but I like most additions and find the changes tolerable at worst. All in all, I think they made a good job adapting the story to live action.

I haven't seen 'Mission Cleopatra' yet. Having seen this Asterix animation, I am tempted to see more. Wonderful deadpan humour at times in this. I've rated it 7/10.
