What nationality are the architects?

I saw this film in the Italian dubbed version and I noticed little discrepancy between the film and the comic book. The characters of Numérobis and Amonbofis (the latter was renamed Stocafis in the Italian edition) are both Egyptians in the comic book whilst they become Sicilian and German in the movie, respectively. My question is: was this change made by the Italian adapters or by the French screenwriters?

reply

The architect, Edifis, who goes to the gauls for help AND his rival, Artifis, is still clearly an egyptian in the english version. In fact, almost everyone is egyptian apart from the 3 gauls, ther oman soldiers and the pirates.

This change was probably made by the italian producers, just like in our (italian) version of the Simpsons chief Wiggum is renamed "Winchester" and speaks with a neapolitan accent,or Carl speaks with a venetian accent O_O

Clearly change made by the Italian adapters. The French version (original version) is true to the comic book. Everyone is Egyptian except Astérix, Obélix, Panoramix and, of course, Idéfix.

that's so strange, i just saw a segment on bbc news about asterix's 60th anniversary in print, i got to say the old movies are something else when cartoons looked rougher and more basic, the earliest ones look the neatest, right, and this was the weirdest one i recall, but the later were just as hookable just different, some were very far out there, i could never get hooked on the 1994 movie as the ones from decades earlier, besides the animation looking different the cool original voices keeps being changed to cute and corny ones, at least that's the case with my language, i know in other countries they keep the original voices for a very long, long time, if i got it right. the later non cartoon movies starring with real life actors were completely pointless i thought since you rather watch the cartoon anyway, the real version of this actually has extended the title to include obelix, well in recent years i've noticed there's been some new animated asterix movies being made and i had to check to see what it looked like, and of course it looked nothing like the original comic book it's supposed to be based on but rather the usual polished weird computer made dull appearance.

your generosity always surprise,
lit delicious cake and blow brains out,
from distant circus brings gift close to soul,
party after no invitation at lost home,
as stomach turn linger your love so i can face the cold dawn.
