WWII Northern African battle movies help?

Bought this horrible movie thinking it was a movie I saw as a kid, resembling scenes of GI's fighting Wehrmacht troops in the desert hills.
Can anyone remember a movie will realistic battle scenes of a couple GI's fighting a couple German soldiers in the desert hills, hiding behind rocks, and sniping each other?

The Devil's Brigade had some of that at the end, but there was a huge battle on La Defensa, not just a couple of guys sniping. Anzio is the go-to movie that fits the description better.

You might be thinking of "The Big Red One".

reply

No I own that, it still wasn't it.. thanks though

that could be like 50 different movies but it does remind me of a film I saw as a kid with a handful of Marines on and island fighting some Japs with Palm trees around. Get the point?

reply

Thank you for that insult. I would argue that there are some real WWII film buffs that would know the film I talk about.

reply

Maybe there are but after 1.5 years you don't have an answer and there is a reason for that.

I apologize for being insulting but your lack of detail makes it difficult to point you in the right direction. Honestly there are probably about 50 different films that have scenes similar to that as you described. Here let me throw out a half dozen.

Attack with Eddie Albert

Sahara with Humphrey Bogart

Five Graves to Cairo

To Hell and Back (Audie Murphy story)

El Alamein, Line Of Fire (Italian)

The Desert Fox: The Story of Rommel

I thought I put lot's of detail in my OP, I will check those movies out you named, I've seen a couple of em thanks.

Well let's put it this way you and me maybe above average in War film buff categories. I pride myself more on Nam' flicks, you could name any random scene and I'll tell you the exact movie (most cheap B movies aside). WWII is an older generation and many of the fans don't use or know of IMDB.
After 1.5yrs at least I got you a couple others to react, the internet is great.
