The Anniversary vs. Festen (Celebration)

Last night, I watched a painful Danish movie of the Dogme school: Festen. I didn't hate it, but it was a somewhat tedious and repetitive slog all the same. All through it, I remembered that the very same movie had been made, years earlier, and much better: The Anniversary.

I know, I know, it's not the same story or the same family dynamics, but I can't help thinking that what Festen tried so hard to achieve, The Anniversary accomplished easily, with one little flick of a glass eye...

Both would make a good double feature, especially at some kind of counselors' camp!
