Nice accessories love!
What's with the eye patch?
share[deleted]
It's part of Mom's power over her son Terry. He shot her eye out as a child. Makes the character a bit more bizarre, as well.
shareShe's definitely a one-eyed with glamour!
shareThis brings me to the next question: What's with the yellow teeth?
Was this part of the "make-up" or did she really had this bad teeth?
Davis smoked a lot so i am really not sure.
I must confess i was really bothered by this.
Actors back then didnt bleach or cap their teeth like they all do now,so it isnt that their teeth were yellow, they just werent unnaturally white.
"Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble."
She chained smoked from the time of her stint at Universal. looked like staining from 40 years of smoking, some without filters.
I liked how she opened the one eye so big. Creepy.
I think the eye patch makes her more of a "monster" in the traditional monster movie sense--I'm sure this added dimension suited Hammer Films, best-known at the time for its horror output, to a tee.

That makes sense to me.
What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!
Bette Davis character in The Anniversary served as the basis of the character of patch eyed evil mother Catalina Creel in the popular soap opera called Cuna de Lobos produced in 1986-87. She has been dubbed the best villain in Spanish TV ever. Check YouTube and search for Cuna de Lobos and check the similarities.
shareI liked the way that she changed eye patches to match the colour of dress that she was wearing at any given time. The black one looked more sinister than the red.
shareYes...she used it for control as,she did have a class eye.
She had Bette Davis Eye in this one.
