Thank you, Jack! The world is knee-deep in mouth-breathing idiots, isn’t it?

Zombie666 seems to have given up on any form of breathing a long time ago.

Hahahaha!

"Me hungry. Me go beat tapir with bone." Maybe there's hope for this guy after all?

Someone on letterboxd said 2001 was like Transformers (2008) but for the art house crowd. I don't disagree. Kubrick is overrated and I know the message behind 2001, I'm still not entertained.

I think Kubrick did a great job on the visuals. I like the beginning with the apes but...it does get dull after that.

I probably will get hate for this, but I believe Eyes Wide Shut is Kubrick's most cerebral and entertaining movie.

Original poster is correct. I understand the movie, no problems, and I've read the book. It's still pretentious and boring. But we are supposed to like it. We must. Resistance is futile.

like watching paint dry

Why would you watch paint dry?

reply

How would you know it's already dried or not if you don't watch it?

reply

A quick glimpse will suffice. Watching it to dry is just pointless.

reply

That would be like watching movies fast forwarded to just before the ending. Or go on a road trip sleeping all the way to the destination. They suffice all right, but the adventure is in the journey, y'know...

Try to apreciate more the little things in life.

reply

Depends if the movie you are talking about is Twilight and the road trip you are going on is to hell. Let's not drag out the torture.

Thanks.

It's a magnificent film, and completely unmatched in the sci-fi genre. Star Wars is pig vomit compared to this.

reply

Ha!! So true.

Comments like these always remind me of this George Carlin quote:
“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

reply

My favorite is this nonsense about how "we're supposed to like it..." Nobody wants the masses to enjoy movies like 2001. There's absolutely no pressure to like it at all. You either understand what Kubrick accomplished, or you don't. And yes, it does draw a line between the intelligent and the stupid.
