This film is a liberal's dream. We liberals are encouraged to fashion our interpretation of an imagined utopian paradise led by a golden child that has defeated a Mussolini-esque corporate fascist and his metal mouthpiece. Well, I did some more reading on this topic and found that Obama's actual favorite film was The Godfather, which might be an imagined conservative utopian paradise, what with its support of private enterprise and its opposition to government interference. Vito Corleone would have made HAL an offer he couldn't refuse.
