Was this another show that was...

...a victim of the RURAL PURGE?

reply

There was nothing even remotely "rural" about this show. It was filmed completely on a set which was located in "beautiful downtown Burbank". Burbank may not be a huge city, but it's definitely not "rural". Though the show did go off the air at the time that most of the shows in the "rural purge" did.

The show went off the air because of ratings. It started in its first season at #21 in the ratings, then was #1 for seasons 2 & 3, then dropped to #13 for season 4 and #22 in the 5th season. It wasn't even in the top 30 in its last season and was cancelled.

No, the rural purge took place in 1971. Laugh-In's cancellation took place two years later.

NO ,this show was PROGRESSIVE in its day.this is something they pushed rural aside for.
