Hulu + Should Cut Their Prices in Half Now...

I feel like I was scammed. I signed up for Hulu + at $7.99 per month to watch new episodes of both OLTL and AMC. I was promised 4 new episodes a week for both shows, plus a "recap" of both shows on Friday (I watched one "recap" show, it was two minutes of recap and 25 minutes of filler). Now, after less than 3 weeks, Prospect Park is scaling back to two new episodes per week of each show. I think Hulu + should charge me $3.98 per month now. Someone should tell Hulu + and PP that the the ol' switch and bait is illegal.

Good lord you cannot be serious.

reply

I am serious. Or they should refund my $7.99

You ARE aware that you don't need Hulu+ to watch the show? I watch OLTL on regular Hulu for free.

Yes, I am aware. However, I don't want to be stuck behind a laptop/desktop watching these shows. I paid extra to watch them on mobile devices like iPad and iPhone.

reply

You are also aware that that $7.99 gives you access to hundreds if not thousands of other shows and content, right? You are paying for the entire service, not just those two shows.

Yes, I am aware of that. But I didn't sign up to Hulu + to watch hundreds, if not thousands, of other shows. I signed up to watch these TWO shows. I was not a Hulu + subscriber prior to this, even though I was aware of the TV shows they had.

Hulu does not care what shows you sign up for. You pay for the service regardless of how often or how many shows you watch. It's just like Netflix. You pay the flat rate every month, but it is up to your discretion how often you watch.

I think they will care when I, and thousands of other subscribers who signed up around April 29, suddenly drop their service.

If that's the reason you paid extra, then you're still getting that service so there's no reason to pay less.

I prefer watching on my TV via an HDMI cable. I don't like watching on a tiny screen. :)

Everyone (including you) have said that you paid for the Hulu+ service since OLTL is free to watch. If watching on your mobile device is no longer beneficial to you then simply cancel the service.

Hulu+ can be watched on a TV...I watch it on my tv using a Roku 3 or Xbox 360....

reply

Nice. I have the option of watching with my wifi bluray player. The problem for me is that I'm not subscribed to Hulu+ so I cant use my player, hence the HDMI cable from my laptop to the TV. :)

reply

There are lots of other shows on there to watch, you were not just paying for those two shows.

reply

I agree. They're screwing soap fans over. To hell with Hulu.

Why are you complaining about Hulu? Hulu is simply carrying Prospect Park's soaps. They have no control over how many shows PP is going to air.

Because I think this was Prospect Park and Hulu's plan from the beginning. To get former AMC and OLTL viewers to subscribe to Hulu. Not less than one month into my first month subscription, they announce they're scaling back. I don't think this is a coincidence or an overnight decision. I think it was deliberate and planned. Hulu probably told Prospect Park they would air their shows to lure new subscribers, in an effort to get them to "sample" or "try out" Hulu/Hulu +, thinking they would love it so much that they would stick with Hulu if these shows get cancelled in short order. I most likely will cancel Hulu + when they cancel AMC and OLTL.

My first month of Hulu+ is free. I didn't pay a dime. Guess that puts a dent in your theory.

I would check your credit card bill. Only the first WEEK is free. Then you're charged $7.99. I guess that puts a dent in YOUR theory.

reply

It is only one week free. But you don't have a year's contract with them. You can cancel it anytime you want. I don't think PP and Hulu had some kind of plan to do this to soap fans.

This just proves that soap opera fans are hard to please. If you don't give it to them the way they want it they bitch about it. So go ahead, don't watch the two episodes a week and have PP cancel your soaps.

reply

Nope, I signed up for a month trial :) I'm not an imbecile, I know exactly what I signed up for. I don't need to check any bills, because the info from my account is very clear:

Oops, So whose theory has the dent now? <3

reply

i agree with you, i talked to some friends of mine today about the cut back, none of us are surprised by it, we are just surprised that they are screwing us over this soon after the series aired

whats good witcha!

I'm sorry, but you are so g-damned stupid. The ol' bait and switch? Seriously? You can't actually believe that Hulu would damage the reputation they've built up over the years to supposedly bilk some subscribers out of $8 a month. That is just ridiculous.

Do you understand that you can't sign up for HuluPlus for individual shows? It's a subscription for the entire service. You're not paying for specific shows. They don't know what shows you're going to watch when you sign up. So how the hell would PP benefit from people signing up for HuluPlus? They don't get a cut of those subscriptions. Why would they?

If you signed up to HuluPlus just to watch 1 or 2 shows, that's your issue. You made that decision on your own. Nobody forced you into it. You show me a release where you were promised 4 episodes a week for both shows. And I mean a release where it explicitly says they promise that many episodes a week.

You don't deserve a refund or to be charged less than the full amount of the subscription. You're still getting the show. And even if you weren't, it was still your choice to sign up.

reply

Hulu doesn't really have anything to do with what PP does. They are still providing you with the service you signed up for. It's only 8 bucks anyway you can just stop paying it from now on.
