Why is this listed as a separate series?

It's The Andy Griffith Show running for 3 more years after Griffith left. It's not a different series. It's the same production company, the same time slot and network, the same characters, setting, actors and crew except for Griffith.

Well, it can't really be called the Andy Griffith show without Andy. Plus, it is a different series, although it takes place in the same town and has many of the same characters.

The cast of the Golden Girls did another series after Bea Arthur left, but it was The Golden Palace, not the Golden Girls. Separate series, separate title, separate IMDb listing.

Same for The George Burns & Gracie Allen Show (1950-1958) and The George Burns Show (1958). They both had the same cast and characters (minus Gracie Allen for The George Burns Show) but they were two separate shows, two separate titles thus two separate IMDb listings.

Both these shows were spin-offs from the originals, just as Mayberry RFD is a spin-off of TAGS.

Another is Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman that became Fernwood Forever after Louise Lasser (Mary Hartman) left the series. The show had most of the same cast and characters and was set in the same town but it was a separate show, with a different name.

Don't forget All in the Family became Archie Bunker's Place. They added a few cast members then killed off Edith but they even kept the same sets.
