I watched this episode last night, and it was pretty good even if ending on a downer, but one thing seemed to be left unexplained - who killed Bates and why?

One minute Bates was at McGill's trying to kill him with a machete. McGill gave him a beating and he fled - then he was found murdered. This seemed to go unexplained and wasn't referred to much afterwards. Did i miss something?

Maybe someone at the MIAS group will know? I haven't watched this episode in a long while, but its an interesting observation.

I watched this episode last week. The impression i had was that Bates had been killed by members of the Security force as he knew too much. But it wasn't particularly specific.
