No explanation why Betty isn't in most of season 2

Yeah I know she was pregnant, but still, they could have written her out in a story that only she returns to Earth.

Instead she is absent in whole episodes. No explanation where she is. It's like she never existed. It's like the Twilight Zone.

Bizarre writing decisions...
