The green ball of light was a space-warp that plunged them into a parallel dimension.

Hello to all land of giants fans!

Quick question. What is the best price deal on this 9-disc set with all
the 51 episodes? I found on a website called, tvdvdplanet or these days
they call themselves for tvaddicts.com I think, for 79 dollars for the
entire series, seems like a good deal.

The question is, is this a bootleg? And also, can one trust this
company at all? Does anybody have feedback on them or does anybody have
some suggestion on a better deal perhaps?

Thanks for all help!

Thanks for the info.

You mean the quality is that bad that it´s worthless to buy this set?

Can you send me some info about where you heard that they will release it...who, when will it be....spring, summer or fall and finally how much will it cost.

I mean, of course I´ll wait if its worth it! :)

thanks for the quick reply by the way.

"Poor grammar or dislexia?"

Dyslexia or poor spelling?

In the episode "Ghost Town", the giant grandfatherly hobbyist refers to the Earth people passing "through our dimensional lock". I think "dimensional lock" is referenced another time in a different episode, without explanation of what it means.

If a "dimensional lock" is analogous to a lock in a canal, this suggests it's an artificial creation. How a people with the equivalent of mid-20th century technology could do that is a mystery.

Oh -- just noticed (in "Night of Thrombeldinbar" that the giant planet has a large moon.

You are almost explaining the space-warp idea as described in the Murry Leinster novels that came out back in '68 as tie-ins to the series. I remember reading the first novel and the explaination was that the giants were doing some kind of upper atmosphere testing;/probing that draws items into their planet's atmospehre.

And of course back in the '60s no one really understood the idea of a wormhole, but by today's standards we can surmise that was what Irwin Allen had in mind for the 'green mass' they called a 'space warp'.

Ya! Why the Giants and not the Red Sox?

The whole thing just doesn’t make sense. Never mind that they crash on a planet of giants that look like us, but they speak English too! And they drive around in giant Fords! And they have cameras and telephones designed pretty much like we did here in the 1960s! Never mind that no matter how many times Steve Burton looses his jacket, or sets it on fire, he will always have a new one for the next episode…. Gad zooks!

The only way that Land of the Giants could possibly make any sense is like this:

Steve Burton is oppressed by the huge corporation which he slaves for. He dresses in red to illustrate his anxiety, but no one pays attention to his distress. The first time we see Steve Burton is when he sweating and struggling with the steering wheel of the Spindrift. He says: ‘I am losing control!’ This is a reference to his state of mind, not any gravitational field of any green space ball.

They crash and Steve couldn’t be happier. In a world where Steve Burton has absolutely no power, he finally has a (giant) handful of people that he can push his fears into. In the Land of the Giants, Steve is respected as the leader of his stewardess, three passengers and a scrawny dog.

Betty, Valerie, Fitzugh, Barry and Chipper listen and obey Steve. Climb here! Run there! Hide here! Push there! Steve is the boss.

Dan is not really Steve's copilot. Dan does not exist. Dan is a product of Steve’s mind. Dan is Steve’s conscience. No matter what Dan’s opinion is, Steve will always disagree with it and Dan follows his captain’s orders. Dan is an obedient angel sitting on Steve’s shoulder.

Mark, on the other hand, is the devil sitting on Steve’s shoulder, but in this case, the devil is always right. Mark risks his life and struggles to repair the Spindrift. Steve will always sacrifice any work Mark did to rescue one of the passengers from the clutches of the giants.

If they ever made it safely back to Earth, Steve Burton would just become insignificant again. As long as they stay on Land of the Giants, Steve will always have a small group of people to look up to him.

…but that’s just my opinion. Thank you for reading… (bow and exit)
