Julia Baker: Did they tell you I'm colored?
Dr. Chegley: What color are you?
Julia Baker: Wh-hy, I'm Negro.
Dr. Chegley: Have you always been a Negro, or are you just trying to be fashionable?

looking at the titles for the episodes,

I can't remember anything about this show except the Doctor, Julia, the nurse, and her son, who seemed to be always sitting at the kitchen table, not eating his peanutbutter sandwich, asking if he can go play with Earl J. Waggedorn.

I highly remembered this show too....and it is very sad that this landmark series is not out anywhere on DVD....We're coming up on the 40th Anniversary of this series as of September 17,2008 exactly 40 years to the day this show aired.

Come on NOW!!! The powers-that-be over at 20th Century Fox can put out the entire 11 seasons of "M*A*S*H".....the entire 3 seasons of "Lost In Space",and
the entire 6 seasons of "Daniel Boone",but not a landmark series like "Julia"?

They can put out the entire 5 seasons of "The Brady Bunch",and not a classic series like "Julia"?

This is a series that needs to be out on DVD!!!! Diahann Carroll made history in 1968 as the first ever African-American woman to star in her very own weekly series producing an astounding 82 episodes all in color which ran on NBC-TV from September 17,1968-May 25,1971. This was also the first series to have a single parent raising a son in harsh times for that period and it was dealt with sincere honesty and intellectual harmony which was something that was bold and daring for 1968,at the time of Civil Rights,Women's Liberation, and the Vietnam War.

THERE SHOULD BE A PETITION FOR THIS LANDMARK SERIES COMING ON THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS PREMIERE.

I strongly suspect you'll never see it. The powers that be probably think it's racist by today's standards, just like Ted Turner never allowed the wonderful Our Gang Hal Roach comedy shorts from the late 20's to early 30's to air on Turner Classic Movies because he thought they were racist.

People are just TOO SENSITIVE about these things, sheesh, can't we ever just relax and enjoy ourselves with these old shows? It's a MIRACLE they were made and we should celebrate that MIRACLE.

That was from the pilot. I'm watching it right now on Aspire :)
