What amusement park?

This show gave me the creeps when it was first on US TV. I loved it!

Of course I especially liked the opening sequence with the eerily empty amusement park. Does anyone know where that footage was shot?

I was watching the 1962 Peter Sellers film WRONG ARM OF THE LAW, and part of it was filmed at Battersea Fun Fair. When the cast came down the "water chute" ride I had a flashback...I think it's the final "ride" at the end of the credits, just before the words JOURNEY TO THE UNKNOWN flash on the screen.

However, according to some internet site, that same ride existed at a few other British amusement parks. So...are there any middle-aged Brits out there who can accurately place these rides?

The general opinion is that the titles were shot at Battersea amusement park- long gone now of course.

It was Battersea, the Water chute was moved when the park was demolished and sadly now the chute is gone as well. The park never recovered from a serious fatal accident that occurred on its Big Dipper in the early 1970's.

To see Battersea 2 years after Journey was shot look at

I wonder if any of those rides still exist and if they are still operational. They probably got moved on after the Amusement park closed.Maybe The Merry-Go-Round and The Waltzer are still in use ?

reply

They got split up and some got scrapped, one is in Bulgaria some are still around.
