Why Does Sherman Have That Stutter In The Beginning?

I'm watching the first episode and puzzled as to why Bobby Sherman has a stutter.

Why was that done?

reply

I'm not certain, but it probably had something to do with the death of of his parents.

He was probably finding it difficult to speak so much silly dialogue!

From wikipedia:

Bobby Sherman and David Soul were propelled to pop stardom as Jason's brothers, Jeremy and Joshua. Jeremy took a prominent role, not only as the boyfriend of Candy Pruitt (Bridget Hanley), the beautiful leader of the brides, but also as a young man struggling with a conversation-stopping stammer. In one episode, he is temporarily cured of his impediment, following coaching by a traveler who has come to Seattle. Upon discovering that his benefactor is actually a con artist, his faith is shaken so deeply that the stammer returns.

Jeremy began to stutter as a child after the death of his parents. In the episode mentioned above, he is cured by the end but still occasionally stutters in moments of nervousness.

Bobby Sherman was already a HUGE musical star when he took the role of Jeremy.

I seem to remember Jason telling someone (Candy?) that Jeremy started stuttering either when their mother died or at her burial.
