What 3 actors would you like to see in ' Champions' the movie?

Will Smith has got to be in this movie, because of his peformance in I AM LEGEND, he has the acting chops for something this big!

I think the one female could be Charlize Theron or Angelina Jolie, they are the most believable strong woman for government agent roles.

Tom Cruise, Rachel Weisz or Kate Winslet and Jude Law.

Cruise looks like a sure thing, which I suppose is good in that the movie is that much more likely to be made, but he really would have been my last choice for this project/possible franchise (now a Cruise vehicle). I'm guessing that he won't want any co-stars who are way taller than himself. LOL!

My choices would be:

John Barrowman
Ewan McGregor
Gemma Arterton or Keira Knightley

I was hoping for a bit more of a low profile film, low profile cast.
I cant see it being any good with Cruise in it. (not my cup of tea anyway)

The unfortunate film about Tom Cruise is that that will probably mean what it did to the "Mission Impossible" idea. Not that those weren't reasonable films, it's just that by having to make it into a single star vehicle, they might as well not have wasted the concept. The main ethos of the series was about the interdependence of the team effort. And that was lost completely. With "The Champions", similarly, there isn't supposed to be a single focus. The point is that their enhanced abilities are so much stronger, again, for the interdependence. With Tom Cruise it can only be another star vehicle where the point is lost in pandering to that.

Good point, Dreamsincolour, I completely agree with your views on the "Champions" film/Tom Cruise star vehicle.

reply

Quite right to agree with Dreams in Colour there.
The great thing about THE CHAMPIONS is that it is an ensemble cast, in movie terms, it would never work as a star turn!
The problem with Tom Cruise is that he only makes TOM CRUISE MOVIES! The point "Dreams..." made about the MI movies is perfectly true in the case of something like THE CHAMPIONS!
Another point to remember is that Cruise would obviously play Sterling, despite being A LOT shorter that Stuart (Damon). Wouldn't be right.
Another thing people here seem to have overlooked is the ages of the characters! How old is Tom Cruise now compared to the originals then? (Bastedo was only about 20!).
If they made the movie of this, it would have to be a case of three people who would be equals, and no main person being the star or it simply WILL NOT WORK!!!!

Craig: Channing Tatum
Richard: Benedict Cumberbatch
Sharon: Angela Riseborough

I second Patrick Stewart for Tremayne

Big fan of Tom Cruise, but, I think if he was involved in the Champions then it would focus more on his character and stunts rather than the trio. And it has to be the trio as the three complete each other

Richard: Michael Fassbender or Tom Hiddleston or JJ Field
Sharon : Sophia Myles or Romola Garai
Craig: Matthew Goode or Henry Cavill

And, yes, Patrick Stewart for Tremayne

I like your cast, bigal_a, with the exception of Tatum; he's okay, but not very interesting, imo.

The cast I think would recreate the original series best isn't very movie-friendly, not being big names:

Matt (White Collar) Bomer as Craig Sterling
Ben (Skyfall) Whishaw as Richard Barrett
Rebecca (The White Queen, M:I5) Ferguson as Sharron MaCready

Like everyone else I like the idea of Patrick Stewart as Temayne, though I think Timothy Dalton would also work.
