Episode 'Anniversary'

Watched it this morning, and I really like it. It's not a much-talked-about standout episode like some others, but it's a good ep because of it's ordinariness (if that makes sense). Malloy & Reed handle a variety of calls, which is what I like about this show. We see them being, at various times, fair, smart, clever, concerned, authoritative, and human. And it includes the Adam-12 staple we've all come to expect about every second or third episode: a Reed running tackle.

I do wonder if it was an odd experience for Martin Milner to film the scene in the bar, when the guy in the wheelchair was talking about how it felt to be stuck in the chair, watching everyone do the things he used to take for granted, etc. I'm sure it was one of those "There but for the grace of God" moments.

I like those sort of episodes as well...interesting mix of calls brewed together with some Malloy/Reed interaction between calls and perhaps a dash of Mac or Wells, or one of the other officers on duty that shift.

Yep, this episode had a little dash of Mac (since it was his anniversary which gave the episode its title, lol).

Ooh, just remembered two other things about this episode. One was that the owner of the liquor store mentioned Pete's promotion, and sort of opened a back-door for the mention of the extra stripe and the star on his uniform... and being head of a "10-car operation," altho they don't really explain what that means. I wish we could have seen whatever ceremony is involved in granting these things, if there was one.

On the other hand, the "policeman three-plus-one" might not have been very efficient at that final scene, when Adam-12 responded to the DB in the park. After rolling over the victim, Malloy pulled the gun out of his waistband and opened it, while Reed pawed through the man's wallet. So much for preserving evidence and fingerprints.
