The hairpiece quality drop

Was I imagining things, or was the toupee lighter than Connery's natural hair? It certainly stuck out like a sore thumb in my eyes.

Famously, Connery arrived in Japan, after a very long flight, without his toupee. He was met by hordes of Japanese reporters, who were aghast at Connery's rumpled, casual appearance and lack of hair. They expected Bond. Connery was more than a little grumpy and proceeded to make comments that the Japanese found offensive. It wasn't a great start to things. The producers ended up doing a lot of damage control to try to win back the Japanese press.

I've never really paid attention and knew the film only in black & white, for some years (we only had a B&W tv until I was in high school). That doesn't exactly stand out when you see tone, not color.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!
