This finally showed up on TCM, but I was disappointed to see it was shown in a full-frame format. I have the videotape, but I was hoping to finally see the 1:85:1 format when TCM aired it. In my opinion, this is one of the funniest movies ever made, so what's the story? Is the letter-boxed version not available or is IMDB wrong?

Most movies made in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio are "soft matted"; that is, they're shot in full Academy frame but composed for projection with a widescreen mask that crops the image to 1.85. If you really want to see the movie as it was shown in theaters, you can always put strips of black cardboard over the top and bottom of your TV screen!
