Not Your Typical Western...

...but at first I thought I was watching one. The idea of an entire town being terrorized by one man was enough to leave chills up and down my spine. Most shocking moment: Paul Birch's murder.

The only way one guy can terrorize a town is if everybody else sits by and lets him. And they stupidly did in this tiresome movie.

Point very well taken.

I love how Lon Chaney's character tries to convince everyone to fight the outlaw for him, yet Blue is still considered the coward.

There were plenty of opportunities to kill the guy before he even got around to burning the town down, but everybody just stood around watching. Blue confronted him face-to-face with a gun, but it would have made more sense to take him out with a rifle from across the street when he wasn't looking. Just about anyone could have done it.
