DVD aspect ratio?

As westerns camera work go this movie offers some of the best-composed framing that I have ever seen. The theater release has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 which makes it so. However the DVD is evidently 1.85:1. At least according to some DVD sellers online who are occasionally wrong with their descriptions. If true it really ruins the originally intended framing.

Does anyone know for certain if the above is true? If so, do you know of any DVD or Blu-Ray that offers the original aspect ratio?

I don't know about the DVD or a Blu-ray, but Paramount's laser disc transfer offers the theatrical 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

Most great films deserve a more appreciative audience than they get.
