this is a great 60s movie

Number one, it has Janssen in it, falsely accused (sound familiar?). Then, it has a whole set of those 60s stars that were in everything. Good plot, good stars, the 60s feel to it, all add up to a great movie.

I like the movie a lot -- maybe more than it has a right to be liked -- but it's look & feel has close kinship with TV movies of that era.

The movie studios were falling apart in the 1960's -- before they gave up and handed the keys to the Easy Rider/Raging Bulls generation (before taking the keys back again in the 1980's) -- and both the leadership of the studios and their technical behind-the-camera staff were aging-out rapidly. That coupled with competition from TV I think accounts for the TV-like look of some studio movies of the mid-60's.
