They should re-make this!

I absolutely LOVED this movie, but I really think if they get the right people, keep all the same stuff, and things like that, it might turn out to be better! Especially if they add new twists and more "jump"/thrilling moments! Now, I saw the play first, and when I saw the movie I knew that Roat was going to jump out and grab Audrey, but I jumped nevertheless. It is one terrifing moment! They would DEFINATELY have to keep that. Overall, I think this movie is a 4-star gem (a definate classic), but there are some ways to improve it.

NO WAY SHOULD THIS BE REMADE!
"Wait Until Dark" is an underappreciated classic, and there is NO WAY it should be redone.
For further proof, just consider the botch-ass job that Gus Van Sant did with "Psycho".

reply

Why dont they just remake every movie ever so their would be two of everything!!!
Forget remakes and just keep making new movies damnit!!!

reply

Why remake it? It's perfectly fine the way it is.

I think they should remake bad movies until they are good, rather than making good movies into garbage.

Haha good idea.

No way should this be remade.

Firstly, remakes are generally cheesey, watered down versions of the originals. While many would like the remake, those who have seen the original would be thoroughly disappointed.

Secondly, who could play the role of Suzie Hendricks as good as Audrey Hepburn? Answer - NOBODY. This role I would rate as the best female lead I've seen.

Thirdly, who could you get to play the villian as good as Alan Arkin did it?

It's a bad idea turning classic movies into a dime a dozen remake.

reply

NO. Why is it because a movie is so good that people automatically yell out "THEY SHOULD REMAKE THIS!!" Good grief!

reply

No way! Though seeing it hit the theater circuit in my part of the globe would be nice.

Remakes are generally horrible but I think that some succeed based on the fact that they are conceptual remakes.

EG; Taking an interesting set of circumstances and fitting them into a different, yet somewhat similar, area.

For example here are few remakes which I believe did this quite well:

- Cape Fear (1991) Martin Scorsese
- The Manchurian Candidate (2004) Johnathan Demme
- The Thing (1982) John Carpenter
- Night of the Living Dead (1990) Tom Savini
- Dawn of the Dead (2004) Zack Synder
- Ocean's Eleven (2001) Steven Soderberg
- Scarface (1983) Brian De Palma

Any project can be good as long as the effort is put forth to make it so.

(Not that they should remake Wait Until Dark.)

reply

NO they shouldn't remake "Wait until Dark." Classics like this should be left alone.

I looked at your list. You can't be serious about the remake of "The Thing."
The 1951 version is a genuine Sci-Fi/Thriller classic. The remake was awful. I hope you aren't just thinking of mindless special effects. Look in the IMDb for both movies and read: everything please.

reply

Carpenter's The Thing is still a good movie though. Its got great paranoia and suspense. Not only that but it doesnt seem to spit on Hawks version at all.

They should leave this one alone though, the only good a remake would do is make me forget about how annoying Efrem Zimbalist Jr. was in this. I cant believe they couldnt get a better actor.

You're good, kid, but as long as I'm around you're second best.

reply

i say remake the rubbish movies if you have to but leave great ones like this alone

RIP Audrey Hepburn, I hope you are entertaining everyone up in heaven

Your right Sliiver1 I did base my analysis on little or no facts because it's my opinion. Opinions by nature of preference makes the concept of fact moot.

Is The Godfather a good movie? A classic movie?
Depending on who you ask it may or may not be. It's not a fact.

As for the personal jabs I'm not even going to go there.

The fact that I'm even replying at all amazes me.

But it gives me a chance to post more remakes that I think are good:

-Lolita (1997) Adrian Lyne
-A Perfect Murder (1998) Andrew Davis
-Throw Momma From The Train (1987) Danny De Vito
-Father of the Bride (1991) Charles Shyer
-The Fly (1986) David Cronenberg
-Escape From LA (1996) John Carpenter
-The Blob (1988) Chuck Russell
-The Jackal (1997) Michael Caton-Jones
-The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Philip Kaufman
-Kiss of Death (1995) Barbet Schroeder
-A Fistful of Dollars (1964) Sergio Leone

And I have seen all of the originals too.
