funny thing i just checked this, i dont think that was reason , thinking back maybe its because he wasl allyways told what to do so even when he was "freed" the camera man was forcing him to smile ?
shareYes, I think it was all that! Plus he had been through so much trauma that...How could he smile !! Years in a concentration camp, years of separation from his family, years of dissappoinment...and here he is finally reuniting with his family, a son he didnt know or know of.......suddenly standing in front of a photographer, being interviewed and being asked to repeatedly smile??
This was shown on TCM UK last week and not having seen it in over 15 years I thoroughly enjoyed it.Anthony Quinn was superb in a touching story about a man separated from his family in Rumania during WW2 and his efforts to try to return to them.I`d certainly buy it on dvd if someone ever decides to release it.
