I have to wonder what happened to her? They never really said in the movie and she never came back to that school.
shareDarn, I came here wondering the same thing as I didn't see the whole movie and wasn't sure whether it said. From perusing the play at Amazon.com it looks like Alice went to the hospital and some of her schoolmates collected money to buy her a Christmas present. The last time she is mentioned is when Carole is sending Sylvia a Christmas present and signs Alice's name, indicating that Alice was still alive as of Christmas.
